Yes! In fact, we can convert most goggles on the market into RX goggles. We also have one of the world's largest selections of RX goggle systems. Feel free to visit our RX Goggle page for more information or give us a ring at (970) 476-5775 to discuss your options!
Yes, while some systems limit what goggles you use, we offer a variety of options that fit your current goggles. If you would like to double-check that your goggles can be used in RX, feel free to call one of our goggle experts at (970) 476-5775.
Anywhere from the same day to two weeks. This answer varies depending on your RX and what system you decide works best for you. We are also able to make them ahead of time so that they are ready upon your arrival at any one of our mountainside locations!
Typically, it ranges from $617 to $1627. Again, this is very dependent on your RX and what RX system you decide is best for you. We use the best lenses and antifog lens coatings to help minimize fog and keep you out on the mountain for as long as possible.
Of course! We offer a great range of sport-specific progressives, including one for skiing! This helps maximize your distance vision while still allowing you to read texts, emails, or menu items while out on the mountain.
SNOW GOGGLES
Unfortunately, there is no magic solution that will fill in or repair scratches. This is why Eye Pieces carries a world-class selection of spare lenses for the latest goggles in case your lenses get damaged. On the bright side, your lenses are scratched, but your face is safe!
- Great question! There could be any number of causes, but the most common causes are as follows:
- Not properly storing or drying your goggles out. All goggles need time to dry out after use, which includes letting them airdry in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. We recommend leaving them out on the table or somewhere safe to dry thoroughly overnight before use or storage. Never leave them in your car or a locker with all your wet gear!
- Lack of venting can be a cause as well. We notice older helmets without goggle vents can keep the hot, moist air from escaping upward out of the goggle. Additionally, stuffing a buff or balaclava under your goggles breaks the seal and vents your breath right into the goggles. Managing the air that goes into as well as out of the goggle is key to preventing fog.
- If you ever do have snow, fog, or icing issues, it is important never to wipe the inside of your goggles. The antifog coatings are more fragile than the coatings on the outside of the goggles. Snow is ice and can permanently damage the inner lens. Best practice is to shake out any snow and get to a hand dryer at any bathroom on the mountain. This will allow you to dry the lens without damaging it.
Another great question! While many companies will shout off the rooftops that this lens or that lens is the best, we have found that everyone's eyes are different. This means that there is no right or wrong answer here, and lens preference can vary greatly depending on the person. At Eye Pieces, we love to take the time to find the right lens for you! We carry the world's best selection of goggles, and you can look through each one to determine what works best for your eyes before making a purchase!
HELMETS
Industry experts recommend replacing the helmet after a serious impact or after 5 to 7 years from the manufacture date. All snow helmets are only rated for one serious impact, which means any impact over 25MPH or one that requires medical attention. Also, after 5-7 years, the protective properties of the helmet can diminish. The materials dry out over time, becoming more brittle, and the ability to protect your head diminishes. Exposure to UV rays and extreme winter conditions can also shorten the life span. If you need help determining the age of your helmet, please bring it to one of our shops.
The size you wear can vary between brands as the overall shape of the helmet varies between brands and models. For helmets, it is best to be fitted in person so that you can understand the differences and can find something that fits the shape of your head, not just your head measurements.
MIPS is a safety technology that was created to reduce rotational violence in a crash. In short, it is an interior liner in the helmet that rotates independently of the outer shell. This allows your head to stay on a more linear path in the crash while the helmet rotates to protect your brain. This has been proven to reduce brain damage and the likelihood of a concussion. All of the helmets that we carry either have MIPS or a similar rotational impact technology.
